This “Elementalists Collection” is inspired by the terrain, architecture and culture along the Mediterranean coasts of Italy, Spain and the Ballearic Islands. Focused primarily on materiality and texture, these pieces utilize primitive shapes and patterns, as well as gold dust and enamel, suggestive of the ancient and sacred arts throughout history.
Gold is one of the most illustrative and significant materials in the decorative arts, dating all the way back to the 4th millennium. Used to signify divinity and godliness, purity, prestige, wealth, the sun and stars, and even romantic love throughout human civilization, it continues to captivate us today, somehow still feeling fresh and modern.
“To me, gold is the most timeless and evocative material ever utilized in the pursuit of art and beauty. Creating marks and symbols, layers and patinas, has become a bit of an obsession for me. The possibilities are endless.”
